DUTIES OF THE WILL COUNTY CLERK
The Will County Clerk serves as the Chief Election Officer for the county. In that capacity, the County Clerk and her staff are responsible for the administration of federal, state, and local elections conducted in Will County. In addition, the County Clerk’s Office maintains vital records including birth certificates, marriage certificates, and death certificates for those who were born, married, or who died in Will County. The County Clerk’s Tax Redemption Department also accepts payments for delinquent property taxes on behalf of the Will County Treasurer. And the office’s Tax Extension Department calculates property tax rates for government districts based upon the levels of funding they approve in their property tax levies. The County Clerk also serves as the record keeper for the Will County Board, which includes taking and filing minutes for all Will County Board meetings and filing all Will County Board Resolutions. The duties of County Clerk’s Office are set forth by Illinois Statute 55 ILCS 5/3-2003.

All requests under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act must be reviewed by the Will County Clerk’s designated Freedom of Information Act Officers, Charles B. Pelkie, Jr. and Brit Hitchins. Responses to records requests will be made within the time period allotted under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act the Will County Clerk’s Office will charge the following fees:
